Singapore, February 3rd, 2022 — Cronos and Particle B, today named Ken Timsit, former Sales & Marketing leader at ConsenSys, as Managing Director.
Cronos is the first blockchain network that interoperates with both Ethereum and Cosmos technology, supporting DeFi, NFTs and metaverse technologies. Cronos aims to massively scale the DeFi and dApp (Web3) user community by providing builders with the ability to instantly port apps and crypto assets from other chains while benefiting from low cost, high throughput, and fast finality.
Since mainnet launch in November 2021, Cronos has surpassed $2B in total DeFi asset value and 13 million network transactions. It is already home to around 100 Web3 projects and more than 340,000 users.
Particle B is a blockchain startup accelerator focusing on DeFi and Gamefi projects and on the development of the Cronos ecosystem. Particle B’s $100M ecosystem fund was launched in May 2021 and is dedicated to supporting projects building on Cronos.
“We are uniquely positioned to accelerate development of the rapidly-growing DeFi and GameFi ecosystem by supporting its developers on the Cronos EVM (Ethereum Virtual Machine) compatible chain,” said Timsit. “I’ve long admired the Cronos project from afar and am honored to lead it at such a critical time of growth and innovation.”
The Cronos community roadmap for 2022 aims to propel Cronos among Top 5 blockchains by Total Value Locked (TVL), and includes: rapid expansion of the ecosystem in DeFi, NFT/Gamefi and Metaverse Dapps with at-scale infrastructure and SDK support for developers; significant increase in transaction throughput (TPS) through breakthrough database optimization; stronger blockchain connectivity and interoperability, with secure and decentralized bridges with Ethereum and Cosmos chains.
Ken comes to the Cronos project from ConsenSys, the blockchain technology company behind some of the world’s most popular crypto products like MetaMask (21M monthly active users) and Infura (350,000 developers). At ConsenSys, Ken held a number of leadership roles, most recently as chief revenue officer in charge of worldwide sales and marketing.
He began his career at The Boston Consulting Group (BCG) where he spent 15 years in Paris, New York and Singapore, and was a Partner and Managing Director focused on the financial services and fintech industry in Southeast Asia. He subsequently worked on new ventures in the e-commerce and fintech sectors in Southeast Asia, before focusing on blockchain technology and decentralized finance.
Ken has co-authored several publications on fintech and blockchain, and is a frequent speaker at technology events. Between 2018 and 2020, he was a management committee member of the EU Blockchain Observatory and Forum, a two year long initiative launched by the European Commission.
